Concrete resurfacing · Tyler

Concrete resurfacing a fresh face for sound concrete

If your driveway or patio is solid underneath but the top is worn, pitted or stained, resurfacing puts a new surface on the slab you have, without tearing it out.

Resurfacing is worth a look when

The slab is sound but tired

  • The surface is rough, pitted or showing stone
  • Light flaking or scaling across the top
  • Old stains you cannot get out
  • Patches that do not match the rest
  • The slab is level and not breaking up

What resurfacing is

Resurfacing bonds a thin layer of cement-based overlay to the top of existing concrete after it has been cleaned and prepared. The result is a new, even surface on the slab you already have.

What resurfacing cannot fix

An overlay follows the slab under it. If the concrete is sinking, heaving, or breaking up, or has wide cracks that are still moving, those problems will show back through. In those cases leveling, repair or replacement comes first. Can cracked concrete be resurfaced?

Preparation is the job

A resurfacing layer is only as good as its bond. That means a thoroughly cleaned surface, loose and damaged concrete removed, cracks dealt with, and existing joints carried through the new surface so the slab can still move.

Questions we hear

Frequently asked

Is resurfacing the same as sealing?

No. A sealer is a clear coating that protects the surface. Resurfacing adds a new layer of material to replace a worn surface.

Can you resurface a cracked driveway?

Hairline cracks in a stable slab can be prepared and covered. Moving or wide cracks usually come back through. Read more.

How do I know if my concrete is a good candidate?

If it is level, in one piece and the problem is mostly the top surface, it may be. We will check it in person.
